Karen Miller, CPDT joined the Animal Haven team as Director of Animal Haven Acres Sanctuary & Rehabilitation Center, August 2004.

11 Immediately prior, Miller served as the Director of Training at Delta Society, one of the world's leaders in therapy animal registration. Miller was the Project Director of the revised edition of the Pet Partners Team Training Course and Project Facilitator for the Professional Standards for Dog Trainers: Effective, Humane Principals. This being the first and only book to define humane dog training standards and practices, it has been embraced by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), the world's largest organization for training professionals.

Miller's hands-on work with animals is equally as impressive as her behind the scenes efforts. Miller worked as an Animal Behavior Counselor at the ASPCA in New York City, was an instructor for Andrea Arden Dog Training and owned her own dog training business for 7 years. Before becoming a founding member of one of the first agility clubs recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) Miller owned and was a featured pianist at the internationally acclaimed New York City cabaret Eighty Eight's.

Miller left the success she had achieved as an entertainer and business owner to focus on promoting a relationship based approach to caring for and training animals. She has proven to be equally accomplished in both worlds and Animal Haven is proud to have her as part of the team.
