It Is Kitten Season!

Here at Animal Haven and also at shelters and rescues across the country there are kittens pouring in by the dozen. Animal Haven not only serves the public for adoptions, but we are also a sanctuary for cats who will never be placed. This time of year stings sometimes the most. We whole-heartedly encourage folks to adopt kittens, but we also want to remember and encourage people to remember the older cats who also desperately need homes. "Jersey" is just one of those cases...


Jersey is about 5 years old, he loooooves people, but he prefers to be the only cat. He could easily live with one or two other cats, but is overwhelmed by all of his roomates here at Animal Haven. This is the kind of cat who will greet you at the door when you get home from work, sit in your lap while you watch tv, and probably sleep next to you in bed! New Visitors -- Let's Hope They Don't Stay Long...

Last week, Beau and I visited the Animal Care and Control's Manhattan location because we just had 4 rooms open up back in Flushing. It's always hard to visit the ACC. So many animals...and as we all know, not enough homes. But, Animal Haven does as much as we can...and 4 dogs it was. After meeting and evaluating a number of dogs - some that had been there for TOO long...we were able to take squeeze in 5 dogs! Woody, Google, Pierre, Dingo and Nona!

Pierre is already adopted!! Please take a look at the rest on our DOGS page...They are wonderful dogs that need adopting. As soon as they go to their forever homes, more rooms open up! Please tell your friends and families about these great dogs!
