How Kids Can Help Shelter Animals
Animal Haven is often approached by parents, teachers, and community groups with animal-loving children wanting to volunteer at the shelter. We are thrilled that so many kids want to help animals!
Due to safety and legal restrictions, we are not able to accommodate volunteers under the age of 18 (with or without a parent) at the shelter. However, there are many ways that children can be involved with Animal Haven and have a direct impact on the lives of the animals in our care.
Use social media to help promote the shelter, our events, and the animals available for adoption. Even sharing one of our posts can go a long way to helping a pet find or home or provide necessary funding for vet care. Check out all of our social media links at the bottom of any page!
Hold a Supply Drive!
Holding a toy, food, or linen drive in your neighborhood is a great way to collect necessary items for the shelter while also educating your community about homeless pets. Good places to host these drives are schools, churches or synagogues, and local stores.
Educate Your Friends and Family
Sometimes people don’t realize how important pet adoption is and how many wonderful animals are waiting in shelters. That’s where YOU come in! Tell everyone you know (or even people you have just met) about the benefits of pet adoption and how they can find a fantastic shelter pet.
